In January of 2000 after a several month search of Remington 700 gunsmiths I settled on Jerry Rice – Nor Cal Precision. At the time I was getting back into the Army – and wanted a rugged, accurate gun that if I could convince the powers that be I could take with me.

I talked to Jerry several times on the phone (on his phone bill too) He took down my requirements for the rifle, listened to my goals, and made some personal recommendations as well. I sent down a 24” Police action with an AI stock. There was a slight hang-up on the border crossing – the package length requirements were such that made a regular gun case was impossible.

In April my rifle was done – there was a slight delay due to the EDM work being outsourced and that machine being down. My rifle was ready to ship.

Here lies one of the best examples of customer service I have seen – for upon its return to the Great White North, Canada Customs took a great interest in the gun. The gun sat for over a month with different stories told - throughout this Jerry keep inquiring as to the status etc.

Finally do to the diligence, not of Canada Customs, but of some friendly Police Officers who used words like theft etc. the gun miraculously appeared (June).

Off to the range – well I broke it in (not that it really needed it) and was getting around .25-.33 for 5 rounds at 100m (this gun can shoot) with Federal Gold Medal GM2 175gr.

Then I started noticing a cold clean barrel shift – low left 1MOA ea. – Jerry consulted me on my cleaning method – and discovered I was using CLP (Break Free) – fine on the M16 but not in the bore of a sniper rifle. This solved I have had no problems since, other than the nut behind the bolt and I have over 2k through the tube. The gun has been banged, dropped, crawled (with, on, and over) I have shot it in Ft. Lewis on the K.D. and UNK D Ranges, and in different provinces across Canada.

I can and do recommend Jerry Rice – Nor Cal Precision to any and all Remington 700 users. Not only does he built a great gun but he follows up on his work – and ensures the customer is satisfied.
