I have been shooting tactical rifles, or to be exact, sniper type rifles for the last 2 ½ years. I have been shooting in general for 21 years, starting back to the Boy Scouts, developing further on my high school rifle team and qualifying at MCRD in San Diego, CA.

Prior to picking up my Remington 700 DM 2 ½ years ago I have had no experience with a scope rifle. Since that time I have learned to shoot tight groups from the prone position with the 700 PSS, developed an understanding of the use of Mildots and ranging, etc. I have also developed further my shooting skills using the 700 PSS. During this time, I had to work hard to obtain a tight ¼ to ½ MOA groups with this rifle.

Luckily I found Jerry Rice through Mike Miller from the Duty Rooster on Sniper Country. Prior to my purchase I have spoken with Jerry on numerous occasions to which he has answered my questions to my satisfaction.

Last year, November of 2000, I took the plunge and put down my down payment for one of his rifles. Well I have it in hand now. I have taken it to the range several times since then. I currently have about three hundred rounds through it; suffice it to say, I believe it is broken in now.

During this period, I have come to appreciate the workmanship of my rifle, the quality and the potential of it. But enough of this. The rifle shoots great. I find that I do not need to work as hard as with my 700 PSS to get a tight MOA group. In fact, after I got familiar with my rifle, adjusted my bipod (different story), I was exacting a toll on my 1 inch by 1 inch square that I shoot at 100 yards.

I find that the rifle is easier to handle and is easier to shoot then my 700 PSS an It is also a joy to shoot. I have not yet tested it at the 1000 yard shoot at the Mudville Sacramento Tactical Match. But I will soon. I have high expectations for it.

As for my recommendations, I say if you have the money or budgeting, looking for a good and respected rifle builder/craftsman, and don't want to break the bank, then look no further for Jerry Rice is the man for you. I am happy with my rifle, it shoots better then I can ever shoot and it looks great. Am I a happy client, heck yes I am - need I say more.

One last thing, an added bonus, I made a new friend that I can chat with at times.
